Deep black, crackled surface of burned Eurosugi Cryptomeria japonica

The Yakisugi technique

For the burned finishes, the wood is deeply charred using the Shou Sugi Ban technique, also known as Yakisugi, creating a deep black charcoal layer. This layer has a distinctive crackled texture and a beautiful sheen in sunlight. Controlled surface charring increases durability and doubles the life of the wood.
