Eurosugi Burned

Burnt wood

The carbon layer is brittle and deteriorates with age, giving it a beautiful patina (weathering). After the burning process, the carbon layer gives off, a finishing layer (sealer, stain or oil) ensures that the carbon layer is hardened and therefore no longer gives off. The finish layer also provides protection of the carbon layer from wind and weather and locations where contact may occur.
Solid sawn Cryptomeria shows a decorative flame pattern, which means that the drawing of the carbon layer differs per plank.

Sustainability
Eurosugi (aka European Cryptomeria japonica) is a type of wood with durability class 3 and is therefore suitable for use as facade cladding. Characteristic for Cryptomeria is the pleasant smell and the possible presence of knots which are visible in the carbon layer.

Applications
Cryptomeria is suitable for exterior (wall cladding) and interior applications.
